Granular Stack Density’s Influence on Homogeneous Fluidization Regime: Numerical Study Based on EDEM-CFD Coupling

FLUENT and EDEM were applied to simulate liquid–solid coupling in a 3D homogenous fluidization. The dynamics of destabilization the granular material immersed by homogeneous fluidization observed. effect initial packing density stack rate on fluidization’s transient regime, configuration particles fluidized bed variation height analyzed discussed. According results, there was an original observation strong impact initially static regime. Depending volume fraction, difference grain dynamics. For loose stack, turbulent observed, whereas for dense mass takeoff stack. propagation wave porosity instability, from bottom top with fast kinetics that decompacted medium, followed this takeoff.
